Brentford 0-1 Brighton: Report

Bees left to curse Osborne show An own goal from Brentford defender Karleigh Osborne was enough to hand table-topping Brighton all three points in a thrilling clash at Griffin Park. But Gus Poyet's side had goalkeeper Casper Ankergren to thank for keeping them in the game with a string of reflex stops to deny Sam Saunders on three separate occasions. The midfielder forced superb saves from the edge of the box and a 30-yard free kick as Brentford dominated. But the Seagulls could have gone ahead as early as the eighth minute when Elliott Bennett's header was kicked wide by Bees' goalkeeper Richard Lee. Albion striker Glenn Murray forced another save from Lee on the half-hour mark as Brighton struggled to find their rhythm. It was end to end after the break and Brighton were awarded a penalty when Osborne was harshly adjudged to have fouled Murray in the box. However Lee did well to save Ashley Barnes' spotkick. With just over 15 minutes to go, Osborne's night went from bad to worse when he sidefooted a harmless-looking cross past Lee into his own net.
