    Thorpe wings into Bees

    03 Jul 2007 - 17:24:03

Brentford manager Terry Butcher has completed his third signing of the week after snapping up experienced striker Lee Thorpe.

The 31-year-old left Torquay United last week by mutual consent and has agreed a two-year deal with the Bees.

Thorpe has scored 88 times in 234 career appearances and will join fellow new signings John Mackie, Glenn Poole, Simon Brown, Alan Connell and Craig Pead at Griffin Park next season.

"It was hard to refuse joining a club like Brentford," he told the club's official website.

"I wanted to stay in league football and have been really impressed with the set-up here.

"I've played in the lower leagues all my career and know what to expect - it's very physical in League Two and hopefully I can use my experience to help us bounce straight back up."
