Brentford could be boosted by the return of Robbie Simpson for the visit of Premier League Everton in the Carling Cup. On-loan Huddersfield forward Simpson has missed the last two matches with a hamstring injury, but has had an injection in a bid to hasten his recovery and will be handed a late fitness check. Defender Pim Balkestein will wear a protective mask again after suffering a broken nose against Bristol Rovers recently. Midfielder David Hunt is out for a month with damaged ankle ligaments and striker Carl Cort continues to struggle with an Achilles problem. Summer signing Kirk Hudson is still building up his fitness following a groin problem.
