Shrewsbury snap up Bees striker

The 24-year-old has penned a three-year deal at the Prostar Stadium and arrives just 24 hours after New Zealand international striker Kris Bright joined the League Two promotion hopefuls. Elder started playing non-league with Billericay before moving to Brighton in 2007 and then Brentford in January 2008, scoring 11 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions for the Bees. He found the net seven times last season before an aerial challenge against Rotherham back at the start of March left him with a fractured eye socket and cheekbone among other serious facial injuries, ending his campaign. But he has now put that behind him and manager Paul Simpson is happy to have got his man. He told the club's official website: "It was a long day on Monday getting everything sorted but by about 9pm we did and I'm pleased to announce we've signed Nathan. "He is a young striker who is a big, strong physical player, who I think will be a positive addition to the squad."
