Brentford boss Andy Scott fears that key defender Matt Heywood may miss the rest of the season due to a rib injury.
The 28-year-old has been out of action since late February and Scott fears that Heywood may have sustained serious damage.
He commented: "I think Matty's going to be out for longer than we anticipated. He could be out for the season.
"He is seeing the consultant again on Friday, but there is a possibility it may have punctured his lung, which would rule him out for the rest of the season.
"We have really missed his leadership."
Heywood joined the Bees in the summer of 2006, having previously enjoyed spells with Swindon Town and Bristol City.
