Brentford finally recorded their first away win of the season, much to the pleasure - and relief - of boss Andy Scott. The Londoners went ahead from the penalty spot after Aaron Cresswell handled a Craig Woodman cross. Kevin O'Connor fired the spot-kick low into the corner of the net. O'Connor scored his second with a free-kick from long range in the second half and Marcus Bean put the icing on the cake with a third. "The spotlight was on us after a poor performance last week and it was a magnificent response by everyone. I thought we were fantastic," said Scott. "We came here and really imposed ourselves. We put them under a lot of pressure early on and the early goal was just what we needed and settled us down. "We went from strength to strength. The lads have worked their socks off all week. We were organised and resolute. We scored three goals and could easily have had a few more. "The second goal was a key moment for us as Tranmere were threatening to come back into it. It really got us going and we kicked on again from there. We must now maintain the momentum and move forward from here."
