Brentford manager Terry Butcher thought the sending-off of midfielder Sammy Moore had a major bearing on the Bees' defeat at Wycombe Wanderers on Sunday.
The 1-0 loss at Adams Park was Brentford's first of the season, but Butcher was content with his side's overall display.
"We can't even appeal at the sending-off because it's two yellow cards," the former England international said after the match.
"The referee had the best view of everybody. If anything he might have been too close, as he was only a few yards from it.
"It obviously had a big impact on the game, which I think was heading for 0-0. But the referee intervened and his decision affected us.
"We played alright but we can play a lot better."
