Peterborough United are reported to have made an approach to Brentford to speak to Andy Scott about their managerial vacancy.
Scott led the Bees to the League Two title last season and has been lined up as a replacement for Darren Ferguson at London Road.
Meanwhile, striker Carl Cort is close to agreeing a deal to remain with Brentford until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old, who has scored three times in 12 appearances for the Bees this season, told the Ealing Gazette: "We've had a brief chat and the club are keen for me to stay on until the end of the season.
"When I signed a short-term deal in the summer it was a chance for me to prove I'm over my knee injury and that I can play at this level.
"There's been interest from other League One clubs, which is a confidence boost, but I love it at Brentford and would be happy to put pen to paper."
