Brentford manager Terry Butcher has snapped up the former Walsall defender Craig Pead on a two-year contract.
The 25-year-old former Coventry City player made 100 appearances for the Saddlers before being released in May, and is looking forward to a new challenge at Griffin Park.
He told the Bees' official website: "I got a phone call from Michael Dobson who I played with at Walsall - he said that Andy Scott had enquired about me and that I should get in touch.
"I came down and met Terry (Butcher) and Andy last week, had a look around and I was really impressed.
"There's a good atmosphere here - a nice training ground and a good set of lads - I'm looking forward to working with them."
