Lee eyes Brentford starting spot

Brentford goalkeeper Richard Lee hopes his penalty heroics will help his push for a regular starting spot. The 27-year-old was only in the Bees line-up to face Everton in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night because regular number one Ben Hamer was ineligible. However, Lee was the undoubted star on a memorable evening at Griffin Park, producing a string of fine saves during the 120 minutes before keeping out Jermaine Beckford's spot-kick as Brentford won the shoot-out. "I feel great," he told the club's official website. "It's been a difficult start for me here in many ways but I have been really happy with my last few games. "It was a night where you work hard and you take the rewards. Hopefully I can stay in the limelight and have a few more days like that."
