Double deal boost for Bees

Brentford boss Leroy Rosenior has confirmed the signing of striker Clyde Wijnhard on a short-term deal while defender Kevin O'Connor has signed a new three-year contract.

The news has come at a good time for the Bees, who needed a lift after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield extended their winless run to three matches.

Rosenior said: "I am absolutely delighted to report that we have signed Kevin O'Connor on a three-year contract and Clyde Wijnhard on a three-month contract."

O'Connor appeared to be on his way out of Griffin Park after stalling on the offer of a new deal during the summer but, after being handed the captaincy, he has decided to commit his future to the club.

Rosenior added: "It may be a contract extension but it's as important a deal as I was ever going to do this season. Kevin has been inspirational as a part of Brentford since he signed and I look forward to working with him on a long-term basis."

Wijnhard has secured a three-month contract at the club after impressing during a week-long trial.
