Dickson fee set by tribunal

A Football League tribunal has ordered Southampton to pay Brentford an initial £125,000 for the transfer of Ryan Dickson with a further £125,000 to potentially follow in add-ons.The Bees will receive £125,000 up front followed by a further £25,000 on completion of 10, 20, 30 and 40 competitive first-team appearances, as well as another £25,000 should Saints secure promotion - taking the total to £250,000.The tribunal, which came to the decision after the two clubs could not reach an agreement on the transfer back in June, also inserted a 20% sell-on clause should the left-back move away from St Mary`s."Overall I think the Compensation Committee took into account the strength of our presentation and set a fee considerably higher than the offer made by Southampton," Brentford chief executive Andrew Mills told the club`s official website."However, that said, I am still disappointed with the figure as we felt that given the performances shown by Ryan on a regular basis and the level to which his overall game has now gone thanks to the work put in by Andy (Scott, manager) and his coaching staff, he was worthy of a higher fee, which is why we demanded that from the outset."That said, I would like to thank the Compensation Committee for their careful consideration and I am pleased to have reached a settlement as we can now move on with putting the final pieces of the jigsaw together as we prepare for the forthcoming season."
