Defensive crisis ahead of Hatters trip

Mark Phillips has suffered a recurrence of his knee injury and could be facing a spell on the sidelines while Leon Legge is struggling to shake off a knock. Alan Bennett, who was recently recalled from his loan spell at Wycombe, came on for Phillips at Brighton in midweek only to get himself sent off so he is suspended. Therefore Karleigh Osborne, who has not started a game since November, and untried rookie Fraser Franks are the only recognised centre-halves unless manager Andy Scott can draft in an 11th-hour loan signing. Scott will stick with Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczesny in goal despite some recent errors from the young Pole.
