Cort sees light

Brentford striker Carl Cort is targeting a return from his long-term injury lay-off next month. The former Newcastle and Wolves frontman has been sidelined with a torn Achilles since September, but is stepping up his recovery and should return to light training before Christmas. And Bees medical chiefs are hoping he will be able to play for the reserves when they take on Leyton Orient on January 10 before a return to the first-team fold. Cort has scored seven goals in 17 starts for the Bees, but has managed just four substitute appearances this term.
