Butcher left embarrassed
26 Nov 2007 - 11:32:50
Brentford manager Terry Butcher admitted Saturday's 7-0 defeat at the hands of Peterborough United had been an "humiliating and embarrassing" experience.
The Bees were put to the sword at London Road after seeing goalkeeper Simon Brown sent off in the first minute of an afternoon to forget for the travelling fans.
"It is humiliating and embarrassing, but you are up against a very good side that, given the time and space they had against ten men, certainly exploited it," Butcher told the club's official website.
"If you lose a keeper like that in those circumstances and go down to ten men against a very good Peterborough side it's going to be uphill from then on.
"You go one down, then two down pretty quickly and no matter what system we would have played, Peterborough gave a very good exhibition of how to demolish a ten-man team.
"We tried to change things around a bit but the quality of their finishing, their movement and the confidence they have is just different class.
"We have to regroup for Tuesday's match at home to Luton in the cup."
