Brentford to assess Callum Elder before welcoming Preston to Griffin Park

Brentford will check on Callum Elder ahead of the visit of Preston.

The on-loan Leicester defender missed Wednesday night's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa due to a gashed knee, with centre-half Andreas Bjelland deputising at left-back.

Deadline-day signing Rico Henry remains sidelined by a shoulder injury and midfielder Alan Judge continues his recovery from a broken leg.

On-loan Crystal Palace forward Sullay Kaikai is pushing for a full debut after coming off the bench to set up John Egan's late equaliser at Villa.

Preston are likely to be unchanged after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Cardiff in midweek.

Defender Greg Cunningham is considered fine despite twice needing to leave the pitch to tend to a head injury on Tuesday while Bailey Wright (toe) was back among the substitutes.

Even away from home, Simon Grayson is set to stick with the 4-4-2 system that caused the Bluebirds such issues, with Aiden McGeady and Callum Robinson on the flanks.

Jermaine Beckford is still struggling with a hamstring injury and Stevie May and Calum Woods (both knee) are long-term absentees.
