Brentford out for revenge against Norwich

Brentford host Norwich on New Year's Eve determined to avenge a 5-0 drubbing in the reverse fixture at Carrow Road earlier this month.

Head coach Dean Smith has again rejected suggestions striker Philipp Hofmann is on his way out of the club in January, and the German made a positive contribution off the bench as the Bees rescued a point against Cardiff on Boxing Day.

Josh McEachran and Sullay Kaikai will be pushing for starts after being confined to the bench for the games against Leeds and Cardiff.

"It is an important game for us because we want to exorcise the demons from the Carrow Road defeat," Smith said.

Under-pressure Canaries boss Alex Neil must do without midfielder Graham Dorrans, who damaged his medial ligament in the 3-1 defeat at Reading on Boxing Day.

Playmaker Jonny Howson serves a one-match ban following his red card at the Madejski Stadium.

Swedish left-back Martin Olsson could come back into contention after starting on the bench against the Royals, with Cameron Jerome and Wes Hoolahan also pressing for recalls.

Midfielder Louis Thompson continues to recover from an abdominal problem, while winger Matt Jarvis is stepping up his rehabilitation from a knee injury.
