McCormack doubt for Bees

Brentford could be without full-back Alan McCormack when they host leaders Derby.

McCormack left the Macron Stadium on crutches following last weekend's 3-1 defeat by Bolton, and although it turned out he had only twisted an ankle he will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Nico Yennaris is the Bees' other recognised right-back so he could make a rare start, although winger Moses Odubajo finished the match playing there and is another option.

Sam Saunders played for the reserves in midweek following 10 months out with a knee problem but he will not be considered yet, while Scott Hogan is recovering from a cruciate injury.

Derby's Capital One Cup heroes have given head coach Steve McClaren food for thought ahead of his side's second trip to London this week.

McClaren made five changes against Fulham on Tuesday night, recalling Kelle Roos, Jake Buxton, Simon Dawkins, Jeff Hendrick and Omar Mascarell as the Rams reached the quarter-finals of the competition in style with a 5-2 victory over Fulham.

Jack Butland, cup-tied at Craven Cottage, will return in goal at the expense of Roos but the other four players have a chance of holding on to their shirts.

Ryan Shotton and Leon Best trained on Thursday after missing the cup tie through illness while Zak Whitbread and John Eustace, rested for the Fulham game, should also be in the squad.
