Hogan worry for Bees

Brentford are expected to be without new signing Scott Hogan when they host Charlton on the opening day.

Boss Mark Warburton admitted the Bees are unlikely to have the B#750,000 former Rochdale striker available after he sustained an ankle knock during pre-season.

Fellow summer arrival Tommy Smith could feature, though, after he agreed a one-year deal with the club this week following his release from Cardiff.

Warburton could also hand debuts to the likes of Moses Odubajo and Alan Judge as Brentford look to begin their return to England's second tier with a win.

Charlton are expected to start the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship season with a new-look attack when they make the trip across London.

New signings Igor Vetokele and George Tucudean, arrivals from FC Copenhagen and Standard Liege respectively, have featured together during pre-season and could both start against the Bees.

Addicks boss Bob Peeters will take charge for the first time since his arrival in May and Callum Harriott remains his only injury concern despite returning to training this week.

Former Barclays Premier League defenders Andre Bikey and Tal Ben Haim could be involved after arriving at the Valley during the summer.
