Brentford have moved to cover for the absence of injured defender Matt Heywood by signing Alan Bennett on a month's loan from Reading.
The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Royals since moving to England from Cork City.
However, he made 11 appearances while on loan at Championship outfit Southampton earlier this season.
Heywood has been out of action since late February with a rib injury and could miss the rest of the season if the damage proves to be serious.
Bennett will join Reading team-mate Ben Hamer at Griffin Park, with the 20-year-old goalkeeper on a season-long loan with the Bees.
