Bees sign three from Daggers

Brentford have signed Sam Saunders, Ben Stevens and Danny Foster on free transfers from Dagenham & Redbridge.

The newly-promoted League One side swooped for the trio after their contracts expired at Victoria Road.

The three players all played important roles in the Daggers' good season last year, in which they narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

Saunders revealed the chance to play at a higher level under Brentford boss Andy Scott was too-big a chance to turn down.

The 25 year-old winger told the Waltham Forest Guardian: "I'm getting to the stage of my career where I want to play at a higher level.

"Brentford will be playing the likes of Charlton Athletic, Southampton and Norwich City next season, whereas Dagenham will be playing Macclesfield Town and Chesterfield.

"I met Andy and he seemed really keen to sign me. He's really hungry and a young manager who is going to go places.

"There is a touch of sadness leaving Dagenham, but also a touch of excitement about joining Brentford," he added.
