Bees seal Richards raid

Brentford boss Scott Fitzgerald has continued his rebuilding job at Griffin Park by clinching the signing of Colchester United defender Garry Richards on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old has made 23 appearances for the U's since making his debut in the goalless draw at Bristol City almost 18 months ago.

Richards also spent a brief period on loan with Gravesend & Northfleet two years ago, but failed to make an appearance for the Conference side.

The Bees remain rooted to the foot of the League One table, but did give themselves a glimmer of hope in their battle to beat the drop by winning 3-1 at Blackpool last weekend.
