Bees bring in Kiwi defender

Brentford manager Andy Scott has finally snapped up Ipswich Town's highly-rated teenage defender Tommy Smith.

The 19-year-old New Zealander moves to Griffin Park on a one-month loan agreement.

Scott said: "Tommy's another player we've been keeping an eye on for some time and is a player with a lot of potential.

"We hope his time with us will help him fulfil the promise he's shown and in turn help him with his ambitions to represent New Zealand in the World Cup finals this summer."
