Bees manager hails Clarke winner

Despite topping the League Two table, Brentford had gone five matches without a win and were in danger of seeing their top-of-the-table advantage frittered away during the promotion run-in. But one moment of magic from Clarke, four minutes before half-time, settled an often aggressive south coast encounter - in which Bees defender Darren Powell was sent off for fighting with team-mate Karleigh Osborne - and rejuvenated the Bees' title charge. "It was a typical Billy Clarke goal, though I'm not sure he knew that much about it," confessed Scott. "But, typical of a good striker, he was in just the right place to divert a glancing header into the top corner to give us victory. "He never stopped fetching and carrying and worked tirelessly for the side."
