Bees hopeful over Simpson

Robbie Simpson faces a late fitness test ahead of Brentford's home meeting with Hartlepool. The on-loan Huddersfield striker missed last weekend's goalless draw at Bristol Rovers with a hamstring strain and the Bees are hopeful he will return. Defender Pim Balkestein will also be checked over after breaking his nose against Rovers. The Dutchman underwent an operation on Tuesday and is set to play in a protective mask for the next month. Leon Legge or David McCracken will push for recalls if Balkestein is ruled out. Midfielder David Hunt misses out after a scan revealed he has suffered torn ankle ligaments which will sideline him for around four weeks. Summer signing Kirk Hudson is still building up his fitness following a groin injury.
