ALAN PARDEW has secured a place on the five-man shortlist to become the new manager of Watford.[LNB]The former West Ham and Charlton boss faces a fight, however, to replace Brendan Rodgers at Vicarage Road despite the club being anxious to make a quick appointment.[LNB]Hornets coach Malky Mackay is a leading contender along with Watford legend Nigel Gibbs, whose deal with Reading expires at the end of the month.[LNB] And the Championship club will also interview St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes as well as Brentford boss Andy Scott later this week.[LNB]Scott led Brentford to the League Two title last season and is rated as one of the most promising managers in the lower leagues.[LNB]Pardew is desperate to get back into management after leaving Charlton last November but is expected to demand big wages.[LNB]And with Watford struggling for cash, Scott could be the ideal man as the club looks to continue their trend of appointing young up-and-coming managers following the success of Aidy Boothroyd and Rodgers.[LNB]Who should replace Brendan Rodgers at Vicarage Road? Should the board break the bank for Pardew? Or is Andy Scott a better financial option? Let us know what you think?[LNB]
