Addicks bring Bees to their knees

The Addicks chalked up their sixth straight league win thanks to first-half goals from Deon Burton and the lively Lloyd Sam to build on the new-found feel-good factor at The Valley.[LNB]For Brentford, striker Carl Cort's diving header was brilliantly saved by Robert Elliott and then, in the 83rd minute, David Hunt's curling free-kick clattered the crossbar.[LNB]But it was an impressive display against a Brentford side who started the afternoon unbeaten and in sixth place and confirmed why so many bookies have made Charlton favourites to charge away with the title.[LNB]If that was not enough good news for manager Phil Parkinson, the south Londoners also confirmed before kick-off that teenager Jonjo Shelvey, who has attracted interest from a clutch of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, had signed a one-year contract extension, tying him to the club until 2012.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
