Fotheringham fires winner for Forfar

Martyn Fotheringham scored the only goal of the game as Forfar beat Brechin 1-0.

The result leaves Forfar in second place in Division Two after four consecutive victories.

Brechin's Andrew Jackson was denied a spectacular opener as Forfar goalkeeper Derek Soutar did well to hold his 20-yard volley.

Fotheringham then gave his side the lead in the 22nd minute, firing into the top corner of Michael Andrews' goal from the left side of the penalty area.

Alan Trouten tried to get his side back on level terms nine minutes into the second half but could only fire wide from the edge of the penalty area.

Gavin Swankie blazed over for the hosts in the 66th minute as they looked to extend their lead.

Jackson was denied a late equaliser as Soutar did well to parry his close range header.
