Brechin hopeful of defensive boost for Cowdenbeath clash

Paul McLean could be back for Brechin when the club bottom of Scottish League One host Cowdenbeath.

McLean has returned to training after a hamstring injury and player/manager Darren Dods will restore the defender to the starting line up; on Saturday if there has been no adverse reaction.

Dods remains without Ross Perry (knee) and Darren McCormack (hamstring) as the plots to reduce the gap on the visitors to four points.

"We know that we have to start making moves soon to get up the table. There are only 14 games left and if we can pull Cowdenbeath closer to us by winning this game it would be a terrific boost," said Dods.

Liam Callaghan is an in jury doubt for Cowdenbeath, who are still missing goalkeeper Jamie Sneddon (thigh) and Kyle Miller (foot).

Blue Brazil boss Colin Nish is looking for his side to cut out the bad habits they have slipped back into.

He said: "At the start of the season we were losing early goals early. We worked hard on it and I thought it was gone but it has returned.

"That, and a lack of creativity, is hurting us but hopefully we can put things right at Brechin. A win there gives us a platform for the rest of the season."
