City trounce Fifers

Brechin strengthened their grip on a play-off spot with a 6-0 demolition of lowly East Fife.

The hosts got off to a flying start when Derek Carcary fired in from the edge after just eight minutes.

Andrew Jackson doubled the advantage seven minutes later as he poked over the line after the visitors failed to clear the danger.

Victory was all but ensured on 19 minutes when Paul McLean rose highest to head home Alex Pursehouse's cross.

Carcary added his second and City's fourth with a fine strike from 25 yards 10 minutes before the interval.

The Hedgemen were relentless as Jackson completed his brace with a clinical volley immediately after the restart.

Ryan Ferguson added further gloss when he converted Greg Cameron's cross on 70 minutes as they stretched the Fifers' winless run to 10 league matches.
