Brechin bag second straight victory thanks to David Bates and Jonathan Tiffoney

Slow starters Brechin made it back-to-back victories in Ladbrokes League One as second-half strikes gave them a 2-0 win over 10-man Cowdenbeath.

Sam Orritt sent an early chance over the bar for Cowden before City's Paul McLean pulled a shot wide of the target.

Robert Thomson failed to score for the hosts from six yards, while Brechin player-manager Darren Dods struck the post before the interval.

The visitors were quick out of the blocks in the second half, opening the scoring through David Bates, who converted from close range after Thomson's fine delivery.

Robbie Buchanan dragged a shot wide at the other end before Dods' men doubled their advantage through Jonathan Tiffoney, who neatly finished after making a dangerous run into the box.

The Miners were reduced to 10 men late on, as Dean Brett was dismissed after receiving two yellow cards in seven minutes.
