Poll result - Argentina and Brazil your joint favourites

A poll at our Football.co.uk Facebook hub has revealed that Argentina and Brazil are your joint favourites to lift the World Cup in South Africa.

The South American giants received an equal 24% of votes cast, suggesting many of you expect them to meet in the final.

Spain came third in the poll, with 16%, closely followed by Germany on 15%.

Germany face Argentina in the quarter-finals, while Spain are expected to progress from their meeting with Paraguay - your rank outsiders with just 1% of votes.

The Netherlands, Brazil's opponents in today's opening quarter-final, attracted 11%.

Uruguay and Ghana meet tonight, and surprisingly you rate the Africans as having a better chance of glory than their in-form South American opponents (7% to 5%).
