Luiz happy to serve Brazil anywhere, anytime
Brazil defender David Luiz is perfectly happy to move into midfield as he has been doing in recent training sessions if that helps his country to glory at the Confederations Cup.
Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari clearly feels he can bring an extra dimension to Brazil's play further forward and Luiz said: "It's a different string to our bow which Felipao (Scolari) can draw on if the team requires it.
"I am always ready to help the team and am ready to play anywhere," said the Chelsea star.
"That way the team can protect the back four a little more and I know the position well" with Rafael Benitez having used him to great effect in the middle at Stamford Bridge.
Saturday against Japan, Luiz is set to start at the back and form a tandem with skipper Thiago Silva.
Meanwhile, Brazil can call on a blend of youth and experience with 20-year-old newcomer Bernard and Neymar, 21, in the side, alongside veteran keeper Julio Cesar, 33.
Bernard, of Atletico Mineiro, was happy to get a visit Friday from double world champion Cafu, winner of a record 150 Brazil caps.
"Cafu said we need simply to believe in ourselves," said Bernard, while Thiago Silva was delighted to see the former star.
"He sets a great example for me and if I can achieve anything like what he did with the team that would be marvellous," said the Paris Saint-Germain star.
