Brazil World Cup winner Marcos retires

Former international goalkeeper Marcos, who helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup, announced his retirement on Thursday after 20 years spent with Palmeiras.

The 38-year-old, who kept goal in their 2-0 win over Germany in the 2002 World Cup final, also won the Copa Libertadores in 1999 and the 2005 Confederations Cup.

"After 20 years dedicated service to Palmeiras, the goalkeeper Marcos has decided to hang up his gloves," said a statement released by the Sao Paulo club.
