The Arena Pernambuco is a new stadium, purpose built for the 2014 World Cup. Construction of the venue started in October 2010 and completed in May 2013. The stadium was opened on the 22nd of May 2013 and hosted a friendly match between Clube Nautico Capibaribe and Sporting Portugal.
The stadium is set to host five matches at this years World Cup, one of which will be a round of 16 match.
