Massey missing for boss Devonshire

Braintree boss Alan Devonshire has to make one change to his squad for the rearranged FA Cup meeting with Tranmere.

Centre-half Alan Massey is cup-tied having already played in the competition for former club Wealdstone earlier this season.

Sam Habergham or Adam Bailey-Dennis could therefore return to the back four.

Right-back Ryan Peters is expected to miss out again having been sidelined for the last few weeks with a gashed shin.

But Devonshire has no new injury worries to contend with after his side limbered up for their big night with a 2-1 win over Gateshead on Saturday.

The original first round tie was due to be played last Sunday but was called off due to a waterlogged pitch at the Amlin Stadium.

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore will make a late decision on Danny Holmes' participation.

Holmes limped out of Saturday's 1-0 win over Oldham with an ankle injury and his Boundary Park replacement, Michael Kay, is poised to step into the defence if he fails to recover.

Loan duo Jake Cassidy and Liam Palmer are ineligible for the match, while Paul Black (calf) and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro (broken metatarsal) remain on the sidelines.

Moore told Tranmere Player: "Danny, we don't know what is going to happen with him. For him to come off it's a bad one. We've just got to wait until the last minute on him.

"Cass can't play and Palms can't play. Blacky is missing and Jean-Louis is missing too.

"We've just got 18 - we can just make the subs. There will be one or two changes forced on us."
