Bradford City's veteran striker Peter Thorne has signed a one-year contract extension to remain with the Bantams next season.

The 34-year-old has netted 12 goals for City this term, having made a slow start to his time at Valley Parade.

Manager Stuart McCall told the Telegraph & Argus: "It is more appearance-based and Peter is happy to do that because he is enjoying himself here.

"I'm not saying he'd fallen out of love with football, but he'd had two difficult years at Norwich City. He came here and got that zest back again.

"Every team needs a goalscorer and he was proven at a higher level when he came to us, so I was always confident he would score.

"He had a bit of a sticky start and it took him a while to open his account, but from then on he's been up and running."
