Bradford City chairman Julian Rhodes has criticised Dean Windass after the veteran striker was sent off against Bournemouth on Saturday for a horror tackle on Neil Young.
The Bantams star will be suspended for the next three matches, but Rhodes is relieved that Young did not suffer a serious injury.
"My first reaction was 'thank God the lad was on the floor'," he told the Telegraph & Argus. "If he'd been stood up at the time then I'd hate to think what might have happened.
"It was an absolutely horrendous challenge and looks even worse having seen it again on TV. I haven't spoken to Dean about it yet, but I intend to and I want to know what he's got to say.
"I'm bitterly disappointed with him, especially considering so many people had turned out to watch in the cold and the rain. His actions ruined the game."
City boss Colin Todd added: "It's too easy to say sorry. What he did was crazy and uncalled for.
"He can thank the other lads for getting any kind of result, considering the amount of work that they had to put in."
The Bantams played for 80 minutes with ten men but still managed to hold on for a 0-0 draw.
