Stuart McCall is set to end his reign Bradford City manager on Monday.
McCall, whose playing career took in two spells at Valley Parade, admitted he was considering his future after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Bury left the League Two promotion favourites languishing down in 16th place in the table.
The former Bantams midfielder has twice failed to lead the club out of the third tier after taking the managerial reins in May 2007.
"I think this is the time for someone else to take up the reins," he admitted.
"I love being manager of this club but this is a result-based business.
"I have 18 months of my contract left but that is irrelevant. I will do what is best for the club."
