McCall hints at resignation

Published: 07 Feb 2010 - 07:41:16

Bradford manager Stuart McCall revealed he was preparing to stand down from his post following his side's 1-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Bury. The Bantams have won just once in their last seven league outings and find themselves languishing in the lower reaches of the League Two table, despite pre-season expectations of a promotion push.McCall said he would meet with joint chairman Julian Rhodes on Monday to discuss his future at the club, but admitted he would "do what is best."He said: "I think this is the time for someone else to take up the reins. I love being manager of this club, but this is a results-based business."I have 18 months of my contract left, but that is irrelevant - I will do what is best for the club."Last season was failure with the squad we had. This season if we had another eight points it would be a fair reflection of what we deserve and we would have been pushing for the play-offs. It is disappointing things have not worked out for me here, but that is life."
