Delph nets Bantams a pretty penny

The Bantams are due a 12.5% slice of the reported £6million fee, which could rise to £8million, that Villa paid Leeds for Bradford-born Delph. However, joint-chairman Mark Lawn has told fans not expect an influx of new players at Valley Parade. Lawn, who has cut the player budget by 50% this season, told the club's offical website: "People have got to realise that when I took over the club, I did say we would be prudent with our finances. We would take risks, but only calculated ones. We did that last year when unfortunately we didn't get promotion. "We pushed the boat out considerably in terms of wages, but that was a calculated risk against us going up or Fabian Delph being sold, so the money we've got has taken a huge chunk out of the deficit we had been left with." Lawn, who insisted he would not be taking back any of the £1million he loaned to City at the end of last season, added: "That was put in for cash-flow purposes and that is still the case. I have no intention of taking it out. "We haven't got a big lump of money to spend, but we will look at how the season goes. We won't be going out and spending large sums on players, but it does give us a little bit of leeway in the season."
