Bradford 2-2 Bristol Rovers: Match Report

Published: 10 Sep 2011 - 19:59:22

Flynn earns Bantams a point

Midfield player Michael Flynn rescued a point for Bradford City with a stoppage time penalty - his second spot-kick of the match.

Bradford enjoyed the lion's share of the play in the first half and would have gone in front but for a brilliant save from keeper Scott Bevan, who turned Ritchie Jones' point blank header over the crossbar in the 30th minute.

The visitors went in front against the run of play after 40 minutes when skipper Matt Gill's cross passed over the head of Matt Duke and Matt Harrold ran in behind the keeper to head the ball in the net.

Bradford deservedly equalised after 63 minutes when on-loan striker Jamie Devitt was tricked by Harrold after seeing his shot blocked in a crowded goalmouth, and Flynn levelled the scores from the spot.

Rovers regained the lead after 78 minutes when Eliot Richards collected a pass from the right and scored with a superb shot into the far top corner.

However, as the game moved into stoppage time the lively Devitt had his shirt tugged by Lee Brown and Flynn scored his second penalty goal of the match to give Bradford a deserved point to mark new manager Phil Parkinson's first home match in charge of the Bantams.
