Bantams win Ramsden race

Rochdale right-back Simon Ramsden has signed a one-year deal with Bradford City after rejecting a new contract offer at Spotland.

The 27-year-old featured in more than 100 games for Dale, including their League Two play-off final defeat to Stockport County.

Keith Hill had told Dale's official website earlier this week: "He's been offered a deal at another club that goes way beyond our financial restrictions.

"As well as a colleague he's a friend and I do genuinely wish him all the best. I know that it was a difficult decision for him to make because he's been very happy here but I can fully understand his reasons.

"Simon Ramsden is one of those quality players who would be an asset to anyone and for us he's been an unsung hero and he'll be missed.

"We couldn't meet the offer he had and it isn't sad, it's simply a fact that we can't put this club at financial risk."
