Bantams taking a gamble

07 August 2008 11:57
Bradford City chairman Julian Rhodes has confirmed that his club expect to make a slight loss this season as they chase promotion from League Two. The Bantams board have backed manager Stuart McCall to bring in several new players this summer, amid hopes of a challenge for a return to the third tier of English football. Rhodes told the Yorkshire Post: "We expect to make a loss next season, but this time it will be through choice. "We are taking a calculated risk, which is being underpinned by the shareholders, to go for promotion. "We have increased the playing budget this summer, while we have also kept some money in reserve to dip into as the season progresses if Stuart wants to enter the loan market."
