Bradford City manager Stuart McCall still hopes to sign Huddersfield Town striker Luke Beckett but is unhappy their interest in the player has been made public.
The Bantams have had an offer for the veteran frontman accepted by their near-neighbours but McCall accepts a deal is still some way from being finalised.
He told the Telegraph and Argus: "We had a good chat and we've both got to go away and discuss things. Luke needs to talk with his agent and Huddersfield, and me with our joint-chairmen.
"It's not as if we have to dive into this and rush anything through. We talked about a lot of things but I don't see anything being decided in the immediate future. It's an ongoing issue.
"I'm a little bit disappointed it's come out. It puts everyone under pressure with people asking what's going on.
"We went through the right channels before speaking to him. We met the requirements with his club and it's been a good discussion."
Meanwhile, City have signed Harrogate Town goalkeeper Jonathan McLaughlin while winger Sean Taylforth has agreed to sign a new deal.
