Vale v Bantams clash postponed

Vale were due to hold a pitch inspection on Friday morning but that was brought forward to 1pm on Thursday afternoon to allow a decision to be made as early as possible.[LNB]And local referee Tony Bates was quick to come to a verdict, telling the club's official website: "It was the easiest decision I have made all season."[LNB]Vale head groundsman Steve Speed added: "We have had the frost covers on but they stop it getting through up to minus three degrees and we have had temperatures a lot lower than that. The ground is frozen below the covers and it needs temperatures up to at least six or seven degrees to get that out.[LNB]"We then had rain and then snow on Saturday afternoon and that has frozen to the covers. Over the last couple of days we have tried to get some of the snow off but it's ripping the covers. We had a temperature gauge at pitch level and on Wednesday night it recorded minus 7.8 - there is not much we can do."[LNB]A new date for the fixture has yet to be arranged.[LNB][LNB]
