Taylor rides his luck

Bradford manager Peter Taylor admitted his side were second best after seeing them edge Stevenage 1-0 at home to clinch their first league points of the season. Gareth Evans' first-half penalty was enough to secure Bradford a narrow win against Football League newcomers Stevenage after Lee Bullock had been brought down by Joel Byrom. Taylor said: "We started nervously and we didn't improve. Stevenage were better than us and they probably deserved something out of the game, but we will take the result. "We know we can do a lot better and we need to improve. We looked to be a nervous group. Whether Tuesday's game against Nottingham Forest took it out of certain players I don't know. "It takes six weeks to get your fitness levels and maybe they should change the rules so that we don't have to play a midweek game so early in the season. "People worked as hard as they possibly could, but it wasn't good. We kept giving the ball away, which meant we had to work hard defensively."
