Taylor raps display

Bradford manager Peter Taylor admitted the performance in the 2-0 home defeat by Southend "was quite simply not good enough". The visitors had gained only one point from their first three matches but shook Bradford by going ahead after 16 minutes when Barry Corr lobbed the ball over the head of keeper Jon McLaughlin after collecting a lofted pass from Ryan Hall. Taylor, who played for and managed Southend, introduced his three substitutes at the start of the second half but they had little effect on the course of the match and the visitors went further in front after 54 minutes with a low 25-yard shot from Anthony Grant after Sean Clohessy's angled pass had been played into his path. Bradford posed little threat on the Southend goal. James Hanson missed their best chance in the first half, shooting wide of advancing keeper Glenn Morris, while Gareth Evans snatched at a good chance six minutes from the end, sending the ball wide of the angle of the post and crossbar. The only blot on the night for Southend was the sending off of Clohessy for the second bookable offence in the 76th minute. The defeat leaves Bradford with only one win from their first four league matches and Taylor said: "I am very unhappy with the performance and it is very frustrating but there can be no excuses. If we play like that then it is my fault. It is down to me because I have signed the majority of those players. This was quite simply not good enough."
