City boss reveals mental anguish

The Bantams, automatic promotion favourites at the start of the season, have failed to win any of their last nine league matches and McCall has stated publicy he is ready to quit as his side have slumped to 11th place, four points off the play-offs with two games to go. He said: "This has been mental anguish for me, mental torture. We've massively under-achieved as a team and I've under-achieved as a manager. "I put this squad together and felt we'd have a good crack at promotion. I felt we'd definitely finish in the top seven. That was the minimum of what would be required. "In the first two-thirds of the season we scored lots of goals and played some good stuff. We were always around the top three or four, but nobody could have predicted the horrendous run we've had in the last nine games. It's hit us hard. "The wheels have come off and that's my responsibility. Unfortunately I've not been able to put them back on."
