Bradford 2-0 Torquay

29 August 2009 05:36
Goals by James Hanson and Chris Brandon helped Bradford see off Torquay.Hanson gave the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time with a glancing header from James O'Brien's free-kick. Substitute Brandon secured all three points when he picked up a long pass from Michael Flynn and rifled home past keeper Scott Bevan in the last minute. Recently-promoted Torquay rarely threatened with their best chance falling to Tim Sills, who saw his shot smothered by Simon Eastwood. Torquay United manager Paul Buckle told BBC Radio Devon: "I'm very proud of the players to be honest and I thought it was a really good game of football and we certainly played our part in. "I thought we contained Bradford very well and I thought we were unlucky to be 1-0 down at half-time. "Credit to the players, they're a brilliant bunch and I really felt we deserved something out of the game."
